Signature HealthCARE is proud to announce that Indiana Health Care Association has named Signature HealthCARE of Muncie the Long Term Care Facility of the Year. The facility was chosen from more than 130 nominations submitted by peers and colleagues.
“We’ve developed a team that’s just unbelievable–different people, from different backgrounds, with different ideas that all come together with the commitment to make people’s lives better,” said Ben Wells, administrator of Signature HealthCARE of Muncie.
The Signature of Muncie family enjoyed live pony visits at our facility to help celebrate Derby Day. The residents’ faces lit up and many reminisced on their days of living on a farm and having horses or ponies of their own.
The day ended with our own version of a Derby race, with horse #1, Exciteable (NP Lisa Harber) and resident jockey Fredrick Stanley as the winners! Surely this day will be one etched in the memories of those involved for years to come!
Signature HealthCARE hosted its 2nd Annual CNA Olympics on October 29, 2015, in Muncie, In. Participating olympians represented Signature HealthCARE of Bluffton, Signature HealthCARE of Bremen, Signature HealthCARE of Fort Wayne, Signature HealthCARE of Muncie, Signature HealthCARE of Parkwood, and Signature HealthCARE of Terre Haute.
The inaugural CNA Olympics were planned by SHC of Parkwood’s DON, Amy Buckley, who hosted our event last year. It was such a huge success that it was held once again.
This year’s events included Bed Making, Wearing Isolation Precautions Equipment, a Sacred Six Quiz, Wheelchair Assembly and Disassembly, TED Hose Application, and a Mystery Event which ended up as Filling Water Cups.
The Team Relay Event included dressing a mannequin, making a bed with a mannequin in the bed, assembling and disassembling a wheelchair, and reciting all of the Sacred Six Value names.
Many thanks to Ben Wells, Haley Arnett, and SHC of Muncie for hosting it this year. Congratulations to all of our participants! What a great way to showcase our Urban Indiana CNAs!
How do you launch a new program, build engagement and encourage adoption? This was the question the team at Signature HealthCARE (SHC) of Muncie faced when trying to figure out how to implement Signature’s iCARE program.
“Our caregivers are busy working non-stop to meet the needs of our residents, so when we ask them to invest time and effort in a new program, it’s important that we make it count,” said SHC of Muncie CEO Ben Wells. “We knew we needed something creative, fun and daring to roll out and sustain the iCARE program.”

More than 1,000 Signature staff members registered for the recent Spirituality LearnFEST, a virtual learning conference that encouraged participants to consider the impact of spirituality, if fully activated, in a long-term care environment.
And that number doesn’t even include the many who joined in groups, in offices, breakrooms and wherever there were TVs or computers at Signature centers across 10 states to view the live broadcast. The event featured sessions that tied spirituality to numerous aspects of long-term care and health care, from clinical care to legislative involvement and the impact of spirituality in the workplace.
Signature’s Urban Segment has been highlighting different cultures since September 2014 in the Quality of Life department. Every month a country is celebrated with weekly activities representing that specific country. Staff and residents learn about the culture which includes, crafts, food, language, famous landmarks, and learning about the customs and traditions.
China was highlighted during the month of February. Urban Indiana, Urban North, and Urban South celebrated the Chinese New Year on February 19, 2015. Each community in Urban created their own version of the Chinese dragon for their celebration. The top two dragons in each sub-segment were the winners! The residents are still talking about the celebrations held at their communities.

Expansion. Adaptation. Innovation.
These words, in many ways, defined 2014 for Signature HealthCARE. The Revolution brought our total number of locations to 125. We welcomed new centers to the family and took pivotal steps to position SHC as an integrated care network capable of meeting health care needs across the full spectrum of care. We expanded into new business lines while continuing to enhance and invest in existing service offerings.
